Description
There’s still a lot of resistance to yoga, with many believing that it’s some kind of weird, religious thing that’ll force them to alter their way of life completely.
Yoga isn’t some kind of religion or cult, however, nor does it require that you turn into a vegan or sell all of your worldly possessions.
No, it’s nothing like that kind of stereotype.
Yoga was first brought to the Western hemisphere in 1893 at the World’s Fair in Chicago, by Swami Vivekananda, one of India’s most revered spiritual guides and leaders.
The word itself originated from the Sanskrit word “Yug”- to bind or join–unity of the physical body with the mind.
It’s about “conscious living”; about releasing tension that can build up in your body–from muscles and joints, to tendons and ligaments–thus helping relieve back, muscle and joint pain, and a whole lot more including emotional and psychological health .
