So what is kettlebell?

The kettlebell is a small cast-iron or steel weight used to provide ballistic exercises that combine cardiovascular strength and flexibility training in a manner similar to the dumbbell, with a range of different weights, allowing you to curl or press, in pretty much the same way.

Handle included, one major difference is how the handle is positioned in relation to the weight.

Rather than having weights on either side and a bar in the middle, it can be grasped from the top in one hand.

Meaning that when curled, the weight hangs underneath your hand and shifts gravitationally, so it’s always pointed toward the ground thus adding extra movement to what’s otherwise a fairly static and unchanging exercise.

And as the weight shifts, so does the resistance angle, which alters the muscles involved in the exercise.
